一級建築士。平成7年の阪神・淡路大震災を神戸で経験し、それを機にまちづくり活動に取り組む。平成17年に有限会社スタヂオ・カタリストを設立。現在はNPO法人神戸まちづくり研究所の理事、兵庫県景観アドバイザー等を務め、「住民主体のまちづくり支援」の立場から、密集市街地の再生、小規模集落の再生、市民と行政の協働促進、景観・土地利用に関わるルールづくり、東北大震災の復興まちづくりなど、幅広く活動を展開している。
Eiki Matsubara is a first-class authorized architect. Having experienced the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake in 1995, Matsubara devotes a great deal of effort to community building activities. He founded studio CATALIST Ltd. in 2005. Matsubara is the director of the NPO Kobe “Machizukuri Kenkyusho” and a scenery adviser of Hyogo Prefecture. He has been expanding the range of his activities. From the standpoint of supporting resident-led community development, he works on revitalizing densely-populated urban areas and small villages, promoting cooperation between residents and local authority, developing rules regarding the utilization of land and scenery, and reconstructing towns and communities affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
